Social Justice

The CSC is host to many options for following Christ s call to social justice. Pax Christi is a group committed to responding in faith to the Gospel challenge of peace and justice. In conjunction with Pax Christi, the CSC sponsors speakers and discussion about poverty and inequality. Each year students participate in domestic and international service trips. Finally, the CSC sponsors several service opportunities throughout the school year, including Urban Plunge, STONE Soup, and other opportunities.

Urban Plunge

Urban Plunge is an opportunity to explore the CSC community and social issues facing St. Louis with a focus on social justice. Typically, the group participates in community service on Saturday and then has a chance to talk about their experiences and hang out Sat. night. They end their service/retreat at mass on Sunday at a church in the city.

STONE Soup

STONE Soup prepares food at the CSC on Sunday afternoons and feeds the hungry and often homeless downtown.

 · GSYA Service Trip:
Join 50 young adults from across the country this summer on a service trip to New Orleans, July 8 to July 13! FMI, Pete (cerneka@washucsc.org).

 · New Items Needed:
The CSC is in need of a new computer and 4 new ceiling fans with lights. A cash donation of $400 for a desktop computer would be appreciated. If you are interested in providing fresh air at the CSC, we would love cash or a fan. FMI, Linda (ext. 202).
